One of my favorite lines in children's books is Miss Clavel turned on her light and said "Something is not right!" from Madeline. So it was imperative that when we discussed in class how each character had their moment where something was wrong that I would explore this by thinking of the line said with the same inflection that I read it to my daughter (and my mother to me!)
I could not pick one character or one story to explore this idea with. I love characters. And they are to me what makes a story, a story.
I loved this line from Dr. Kopp:
Each character has a "something is not right moment" that is a sentence (like in court) that they use to define themselves. There is a way in which the narrative plays out that uses the character as a mechanism. The strength/ quality of the character is to get away from the way of being.
